Sadatu Mamah-Trawill, National Organizing Director for the RWDSU, has been a dedicated union leader since 2006 and brings more than 20 years of experience advancing social and economic justice in New York. Her journey in the labor movement began while working at a non-union hotel, where she courageously helped organize her coworkers into the Hotel Trade Council Local 6, UNITE HERE. Inspired by the power of collective action, she later joined Local 6 as a Union Organizer.

Sadatu continued her commitment to worker advocacy with the Retail, Wholesale & Department Store Union (RWDSU), first serving as an Organizer and Secretary-Treasurer for Local 2006 before rising to her current role as National Organizing Director. During her tenure, she played a pivotal role in launching the Retail Action Project (RAP), serving as its Lead Organizer and helping workers secure fair treatment, improved working conditions, and stronger workplace protections.

Throughout her career, Sadatu has helped hundreds of workers organize their workplaces and has been instrumental in winning back millions of dollars in unpaid wages and securing strong union contracts. She also worked with African Communities Together, supporting immigrant communities in their fight for civil rights nationwide.

An immigrant from Ghana, Sadatu lives in the Bronx with her three children. She is fluent in Hausa and also speaks Twi and Ga, reflecting her deep multicultural roots and commitment to community empowerment.
