Jessica Hayssen joined UFCW Local 663 in 2017, where she plays a vital role in amplifying members’ voices by sharing their stories and highlighting the impact, dedication, and value of union members within their workplaces and communities. Her work centers on strengthening public understanding of labor and uplifting the experiences of working families.

Prior to joining Local 663, Jessica held positions with the Minnesota AFL-CIO and AFSCME Council 5, where she advocated on behalf of union members across the state and supported organizing, legislative, and political initiatives that advanced workers’ rights. Her commitment to building strong, inclusive labor leadership led her to help found Minnesota Young Workers and Minnesota Union Women, organizations dedicated to developing the next generation of labor activists and leaders.

Jessica’s leadership extends to the national level as a founding member of the AFL-CIO Young Workers’ Advisory Council, where she contributed to shaping strategies to engage young workers in the labor movement. She also serves on the Nellie Stone Johnson Scholarship Committee, supporting educational opportunities for union members and their families.

In 2023, Jessica was appointed to the UFCW Women’s Network as a Region 6 Co-Coordinator, where she continues her dedication to empowering women, elevating worker voices, and strengthening solidarity across the labor movement.
