The Women’s Network Canada Team covers all providences in Canada.
Colleen Huber
Colleen Huber is a proud union member of the International Chemical Workers Union Council (ICWUC) Local 1009-C and currently serves as a Region 2 Representative.
Her union journey began in 1993 at Oscar Mayer in Davenport, Iowa, where she started as a dedicated employee and proud member of the union. When workplace issues arose, Colleen decided to take action and make a difference—becoming a floor steward in 1995. From there, she worked her way up through the ranks, taking every opportunity to learn and grow. She attended classes, volunteered for organizing campaigns, and participated in educational conferences—always eager to get involved and strengthen the labor movement.
In the spring of 2009, Colleen was diagnosed with breast cancer. After bravely battling and defeating the disease, she returned to work stronger than ever. That same year, she was appointed Chief Steward at Oscar Mayer and joined the Executive Board of UFCW Local 431, where she served as an active board member until the fall of 2021. In 2017, she was hired by UFCW Local 431 as a Business Agent and Organizer, representing members across a range of industries including healthcare, manufacturing, cannabis, food processing, and retail. In that role, she handled contract negotiations, grievances, arbitrations, and fought tirelessly to protect workers’ rights.
In 2024, Colleen was appointed as the Regional Coordinator for Canada on the UFCW Women’s Network, where she continues her commitment to advancing women’s leadership and empowerment within the labor movement.
Through it all, Colleen has balanced her union leadership with her most cherished role—being a proud single mother of two beautiful daughters. She continues to live life to the fullest while dedicating herself to empowering workers and strengthening the labor movement.
