Nikki Kateman
Nikki Kateman serves as the Assistant to the President at Local 338 RWDSU/UFCW, representing over 13,000 workers across New York State and Northern New Jersey. She began her career with the union as an intern in 2007 and has since held several leadership roles, including Political and Communications Director, where she advanced a strong legislative agenda for working people. In 2021, she played a pivotal role in passing New York’s Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act, advocating for equity and worker protections in the emerging cannabis industry.
In her current role, Nikki oversees the union’s political strategy, communications, and strategic initiatives, acting as a key advisor to union leadership. She also manages interdepartmental coordination, leads collective bargaining efforts, and represents Local 338 in political, community, and labor campaigns throughout the region.
Nikki serves on the Executive Board of the UFCW Women’s Network, is Secretary and Board Member of Local 338 Charities, Inc., and sits on the boards of the Workforce Development Institute and Long Island Jobs with Justice. In 2022, she was appointed to the New York State Cannabis Advisory Board.
A summa cum laude graduate of Adelphi University, Nikki also holds a Certificate in Advanced Labor Union Leadership from Cornell University.
