Laurie Mesa
Laurie Mesa serves as a Director for UFCW Local 5 in San Jose, CA, bringing nearly four decades of dedication to the labor movement. Having started her career in the grocery industry in 1987, Mesa has been a proud union member for 38 years. She has spent 28 years on staff with UFCW Local 5, advocating for working families and strengthening union representation across her local.
In the role of Director, Mesa provides strategic leadership and oversight for field operations, member engagement, and contract enforcement, working closely with staff, stewards, and members to uphold strong standards in the workplace.
In addition to her field leadership, Mesa has been actively involved in the UFCW Women’s Network since the late 90’s, demonstrating a long-standing commitment to equity, mentorship, and leadership development for women within the union. Throughout the years he has served as a Regional Coordinator, Recorder and Executive Board Member.
Mesa also serves as Recorder for UFCW Local 5, contributing to the governance and continuity of the local. Throughout her career Mesa has remained deeply committed to the values of solidarity, accountability, and service, continuing to advance the mission of UFCW and the broader labor movement.
